It began in the bowels of Australia House and has since spread across central London, and now the London Australian Film Society is celebrating 50 years of bringing the latest and greatest Australian films to UK audiences.
We marked five decades of great Australian cinema with a special selection of newly-restored short films by some of Australia's premier filmmakers and AFTRS alumni, including a trio of films from the inaugural directors’ intake in 1973.

So good we're screening it twice!
The London Australian Film Society kicked off its 50th anniversary year with an exclusive Australia Day* preview of the riotously camp throwback to 90s Oz classic Seriously Red, the dramatic feature debut of Gracie Otto (The Last Impresario, Under the Volcano, Netflix’s Heartbreak High reboot).
* LAFS recognises that January 26 represents a Day of Mourning for many people, and have held our ‘Australia Day’ screenings on an alternate date since 2018.
